Pre, Post Catalyzed, Nitrocellulose and Metal Lacquers

***All our Goudey products are on liquidation***

Pre Catalyzed Lacquers (PC10, PC30, PC50, PC90)

The Goudey line of Pre Catalyzed Lacquers offers a water clear hard finish with greater durability and resistance to marring, water, alcohol as well as household cleaning products than traditional nitrocellulose lacquers. Pre Catalyzed Lacquers have become the finishing industries preferred single component solvent based coating for commercial and residential applications on interior wood furniture, kitchen cabinetry and millwork, bathroom vanities, bedroom furniture, general millwork and custom made solid body wood guitars

This series of Pre Catalyzed lacquers has been formulated to offer a fast drying, medium solids film build with excellent sanding properties that is easy to use. This PC series can be recoated after 45 – 90 minutes of drying time depending on the environmental conditions and applied film thickness. Pre Catalyzed lacquers must be scuff sanded between coats to ensure proper film adhesion. Reduce with 788 Lacquer Thinner.

Note: Goudey Pre Catalyzed Lacquers have been formulated as a self-sealing product and therefore it is not recommended that they be applied over traditional Nitrocellulose Sanding Sealers. Reducing the initial finishing coat between 25-30 %, or more depending on the wood substrate, with 788 Lacquer Thinner should suffice as a sealer coat. As with all chemical cure finishing products, applying light to medium spray passes per coat assures proper curing times and the optimum hardness properties of the finish between coats. Applying heavy spray passes per coat can result not only in longer cure times for recoating but can result in a lessening of the lacquer’s hardness properties at the base coats, leading to a softer more easily marred finish.

Features:
••Sheens Available: Flat- 10° Satin-30° Semi-Gloss- 50° Gloss- 90°
••Available in 3.78L and 20L containers

Post Catalyzed Clear Lacquers (3010, 3035, 3090 Beautylac III)

Goudey’s most durable line of topcoat finishes. This series of two component acid cure lacquers offers a clear, hard, high solids film build with excellent sanding properties. Beautylac III has been formulated with enhanced durability and mar resistance properties as well as greater resistance to water, alcohol, food acids, commercial maintenance / cleaning products and household cleaning products than those of Pre Catalyzed Lacquers. These properties make Beautylac III an ideal choice of finishing topcoat for high end kitchen cabinetry, bathroom vanities, table tops, dining room furniture, bedroom furniture, millwork, office furniture and store fixtures.

Beautylac III can be recoated after 2 to 3 hours depending on environmental conditions and applied film thickness. Its simple ratio of 10 parts base material to 1 part catalyst (AC4040) makes it easy to use. Beautylac III features substantially less odour while off gassing by comparison to most other two component acid cure finishes. Reduce, if desired, with 788 Lacquer Thinner after catalyzing the base material.

Note: Beautylac III has been formulated as a self-sealing product. Reducing the initial finishing coat 25- 30%, or more depending on the wood substrate, with 788 Lacquer Thinner after catalyzing the base material should suffice as a sealer coat. Post Catalyzed lacquers must be scuff sanded between coats to ensure proper adhesion.

Features:
•Sheens Available: Flat-10° Satin- 30° Gloss- 90°
•AC4040- Catalyst for 3010, 3035, 3090 Beautylac III
•Available in 3.78L and 20L containers.

Nitrocellulose Lacquers

This type of lacquer is most commonly referred to as regular lacquer, traditional lacquer, or simply NC lacquer. NC lacquers are commonly used for antique restoration and refinishing, reproduction of classic furniture styles, refurbishing older furniture, vintage guitar finishing, pianos and interior general millwork. NC lacquers are not recommended for use in kitchens or bathrooms. Pre-catalyzed or post catalyzed lacquers are more appropriate for this.
